Maree Hopgood

Director

Maree Hopgood is Girl About Town’s fearless Director. After studying a Bachelor of Management (Marketing) in 2008, she went on the adventure of a lifetime, undertaking a Public Relations internship in New York. Maree worked for a high-end fashion designer during New York Fashion Week, styling for the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Rachel Bilson and Jessica Biel and working in the PR department.

After the bright lights of New York City, Maree returned home to work for a major Adelaide based PR agency, where she established herself as a Senior Account Manager. During her four years at the agency she managed the accounts for national brands including David Jones, Harris Scarfe, Westfield and the Good Food & Wine Show, as well as local organisations such as The Collins Bar, the Chiropractor’s Association of South Australia and the South Australian Jockey Club.

In 2014, Maree stepped out on her own, launching Adelaide’s leading lifestyle Public Relations Agency, Girl About Town. Recognising the power of influencers and changing industry trends, Maree bridged the gap between traditional and social media, creating innovative communications strategies to align and complement the two channels. Well into its fifth year of business, Girl About Town has flourished, with an ever-growing client base including David Jones, Westfield, Vogue Festival, Rundle Mall, Bickford’s Group of Venues, the South Australian Jockey Club and the Adelaide Fashion Festival, to name a few.

When she’s not in the office or running in heels at events, Maree loves staying active and co-managing her dance company, Bellarouge. Maree is passionate about helping others and is a committee member for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Laura Martino

PR Manager

Laura’s distinctive passion and creative flair shines through her PR campaigns, creative writing and unforgettable events (she knows how to get brands noticed)!

Laura joined the Girl About Town team during it’s inception in 2014 and quickly became the go-to-girl for all things PR. Six years on, Laura now manages some of the agency’s most notable clients, including Morphettville Racecourse, Antica, Vacay Swimwear, Women’s Sport Season and Carols by Candlelight. Her notable portfolio doesn’t stop there – she’s also managed international brands such as fitness apparel label, Ryderwear, and natural superfood supplement company, Happy Way.

The accomplished PR Manager has secured coverage in reputable publications like Men’s Health, The Sydney Morning Herald, Women’s Health, Sporteluxe and Body+Soul.

Having graduated from UniSA with a Bachelor of Journalism up her sleeve, Laura gained experience through industry opportunities by working as a newsreader on Fresh 92.7, while forging contacts through internships at Nine, Network 10, The Advertiser and Girl About Town. During her studies, Laura travelled to her motherland of Italy to tackle the cosmopolitan language and lifestyle. She prides herself on returning to Europe as often as she can!

Laura thrives on doing what some people would consider their biggest fear – public speaking! Courtesy of her 20+ years dancing and performing on the stage, Laura loves taking on MC roles – she’s small, loud and can control a crowd!

Tash Buccella

PR Coordinator

Tash Buccella’s spontaneous decision to take a break from her Master of Teaching and begin an internship at Girl About Town certainly paid off, since it led to being offered the role as our PR Coordinator.

Prior to graduating from a Bachelor of Communication (Media and Culture), Tash finished top of her class at Sean Craig Murphy’s Australian Radio School where she was introduced to the world of radio announcing and copywriting. Writing for music publications and being a musician herself, radio felt like a natural progression for Tash – However, she wanted more.

After joining the GAT team officially in November 2019, she knew this was where she wanted to stay and work on her career in the media and communications industry.  Tash loves being a true all-rounder in the GAT office – she loves curating Instagram feeds and is a true wizz at content creation. Her love for words and creating engaging copy resonates through her work, from social media captions to trying to include a pun in (most) of her Media Release headlines. Above all, Tash works hard to ensures her client’s best interests are always priority.

When she isn’t trying to work out how to crack the next Instagram algorithm update, you can find her buying presents for her dog or justifying her next activewear purchase.

Emily Lorimar

Business Development & Account Manager

Emily Lorimar loves to help businesses work smarter, not harder.

Emily brings global experience to the Girl About Town team, growing up a third culture kid, she has lived and studied in Melbourne, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Shanghai and New York before settling in Adelaide, South Australia to study Podiatry at The University of South Australia.

Her design thinking ultimately lead her in to a more fitting creative direction when she changed majors to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Visual Communication at UniSA.

Not too dissimilar to founder Maree, Emily also interned in New York City but as a graphic designer for e-commerce company Ideeli (now Groupon).  Forging valuable connections in this bustling city, she visits the big apple on a regular basis (she even got married there!).

Post grad, Emily worked in marketing and digital communications for e-commerce/retail companies. Whilst working full time, she immersed herself into the Adelaide start-up world, winning a scholarship to attend the New Venture Institute at Flinders University through the Spark program (Hub Australia). In 2017, upon completion of the program she pitched her business concept which won her a gold eNVIe award, taking her on a tour of the US to connect with investors, change makers and fellow entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, Austin (SouthxSouthwest) and New York.

2018 saw Emily partner with a fellow NVI graduate as a business Development/PR/Marketing hybrid to assist in growing the many ‘dark kitchen’ brands that fall under Great Scott Enterprises.

Emily’s experience has brought her in to an exciting role here at Girl About Town, where she is responsible for onboarding new clients, building brand awareness, managing accounts and implementing processes for the betterment and growth of GAT’s future.
