When a simple hobby turns into a successful business venture, it’s exciting. When your online business has such a high demand that you are required to launch your own brick and mortar studio space earlier than anticipated – that’s worth throwing a party for!
This is now the reality for couple and Co-Founders Ivy Bui and Johnny Nguyen, who created Puff & Pop in 2017 after noticing a gap in the Adelaide market for intricate balloon styling, balloon installations and tasteful yet on-trend pieces to be hired out for events. The 23-year-old Co-Founder and Head Stylist, Ivy Bui, says, “Puff & Pop started out purely as a hobby… I noticed Adelaide was still behind when it came to balloon styling, which appealed to me and my age group”. Open by appointment only, this ensures the time you spend at Puff & Pop is exclusive and customised to your event or party needs.
Girl About Town were super excited too officially launch Puff & Pop’s new fully functional styling studio last Wednesday night. The building’s vibrant pink exterior sure makes it hard to miss at its Seaton location on Tapleys Hill Rd, with the inside of the studio being just as Instagrammable. With the studio’s entrance covered in a signature Puff & Pop balloon installation of beautiful pastel tones, guests were snapping photos in-front of the set-up before they had even entered the studio!
The evening was intimate, with the angelic voice and musical talents of Lili Karamalikis (@iamlilimusic) being provided during the night (what can’t this girl do?!).
A true collaboration of local businesses are what made this launch even more special. Colourful floral arrangements by Stemhaus (@stemhaus_) were draped over Puff & Pop’s Chloe Cart (available for hire), custom cookies and macarons by With Love From (@withlovefrom), grazing table by Fig and Cheese (@figandcheese) and bottles upon bottles of sparkling rose served by the glass, tied in with the overall aesthetic of Puff & Pop perfectly. We can’t forget the delicious addition of Bombay’s newest pre-made Gin & Tonic by Bacardi. The use of Puff & Pop’s hire pieces was clever, as this showed guests different ways that their pieces could be utilised at events.
The night ended with both Ivy and Johnny’s families being the last ones there – smiling, taking endless photos and all so proud of what these two have achieved together. After the door prize was revealed with the pop of a balloon and raining confetti, guests were gifted with goodie bags which included merchandise and gift vouchers from sponsors; Hit 107 Adelaide, KX Pilates Semaphore, Ryderwear, Mayfair Hotel, Glamour and Grace Bridal and Stemhaus. A kind gesture, thanking everyone for coming to the launch.
